The whole point about evaluating a business is for you to make up your own mind about it. Unfortunately in today’s media world advertising and journalism are so intertwined it’s very hard to distinguish between the two. Companies use PR firms to get their products or services written about and publicized. In return, you should get a very fair and balanced story/review. Everyone has read automobile reviews, but what would you think if at the end of the review they had in big bold letters, “Our editors and drivers have test driven thousands of automobiles and we have found that the best car dealer is Toyota.” It would be pretty sketchy right. You really wouldn’t give much credibility to the magazine because it is so blatantly apparent they have some kind of deal arranged with Toyota. But everyday on the Internet people claim they have reviewed all of these business opportunities and then have a tag line on the bottom of each page that looks something like this:
I’ve Tested Hundreds of Business Opportunities and this is the Only One I Found that Created a Passive Income that Allowed me to Leave the Job I Hated and Spend Time with my Family. CLICK HERE NOW TO LEARN HOW I DO IT AND HOW YOU CAN DO IT TOO!
So in reality, what’s happening is that they are positioning themselves as an authority figure to gain credibility with the reader who is a potential customer. To me it’s blatantly obvious that they are financially motivated to have readers join them. They are selling a business opportunity as well.
A word to the wise would be to formulate your own opinion about something. You are looking for a business and there is going to be risk, and there will probably be things about the business you will want to change, but it is better to get started towards success, than not do anything at all. Don’t get alarmed if you read something bad about a company, keep in mind that the Internet is one big forum for people’s opinions and anyone can write anything they want. Opinions are the cheapest thing out there. Aren’t there always going to be people who have something bad to say regardless of how good a person, company or business is? So if no one was talking about it in the first place there probably isn’t anything that important going on at all.
So think for yourself, go speak with people who are in the business and having results and decide where you want to be based on that. You are far better off making up your own mind instead of having a 3rd party do it for you.
www.zango.com has been a great place for me to market my business. I control how much per hour I spend and I put all keywords into my account. I learned how to do it, with this course by Beau Read. Go visit the Zango Guru site and at least get the free e-mail course so you too can learn how to market your product, service, or squeeze page for $.015 per impression. This has made me over $30,000 so far. This is one way I generate leads for my home based business.
Here is a screen shot of the results I have experienced. I even get some leads for less than $.025. How can you not afford to run a business from home with advertising expenses that cost pennies on the dollar.
The cold hard facts are anyone can succeed in a home based business, anyone can shift from employee to entrepreneur/business owner, there are many legitimate home businesses and ways to make $$ it’s ridiculous. So why is it then that so many people have not yet narrowed it down and gotten started in a direction that will bring them closer to their end result rather than continuing to stay trapped at their jobs?
There are actually people I hear from every week, who tell me that they have been looking for a business for 3-4 years and they have not come up with anything that would work for them. Here is why this happens.
As much as we want to change, a big part of us wants to stay where we are. Then you have friends, family, peers and social norms that work just as hard to keep us in predefined roles, only validating the idea that we should stay in our jobs or where we are at because everyone else is doing it, and as long as I do stay where I am I can at least be comfortable.
Most people although they say they would like to change do not have the desire to get over their skepticisms about a business or a new venture. Nothing in the world will ever be 100% exactly what you want. This is what keeps people stuck. Then some people think they need to know what the products are, and how everything works to see if would be a fit for them, when they have no idea how much $$ they would like to make, or how this new venture will change their lifestyle for the better. They simply want “more time, to be my own boss, more money” these are the words that the procrastinator thinks in terms of.
So when looking for a business, think in terms of the end result as mentioned by Stephen Covey. Knowing exactly what you want will bring you closer to getting it. When you know what you want, you will be able to take a better look at the opportunities out there. Anyone can say they wold like to travel, but the person who has their vacation planned to a T is much more likely to arrive at their destination.
Watch out for the person who despite circumstance and what other people say they reply with, I don’t care I am going to do it anyway. It’s a little cocky but it’s got attitude. People like this knock the cover off the ball. This is the difference between the person who is highly profitable in their online business and the person who is choosing which template to use to create a website. It took me a while to get this, but the inner game is much more important than the outer.
Use this yourself, it’s powerful. Get it done today, do it anyway. Do it with out perfection. Think about fire, ready, aim. Take action anyway. Stick to the blocking and tackling, get rid of the non essentials. Give it 1000%. Just kidding, you can only give 100% right?
Success comes from a singular focus on the fundamentals. Outsource everything that takes you away from what tasks will produce income. Where I am from, you can actually buy your groceries online and have them delivered. Get the lawn mowed, free yourself of annoying little tasks. Trim the fat, get rid of the resistance. A swimmer doesn’t jump in the pool with work boots. The 4 Hour Work Week is a great how-to on simplifying your life. I highly recommend it, enjoy.
Taking actions or talking about it. Trickery is self sabotage. Just do it. Be consistent and just do it. Calm down and stop the monkey chatter, like “I am placing ads but they wont pull” silence that, step back, just do it. As Les Brown says, “You dont need to be great to get started, but you do need to get started to be great.”
It’s revealing ow people show up including ourselves. Fire Aim Ready. Better to be confidently bad, then nervous and attempting to say the right thing. Results come from consistent action backed by a positive mindset. Keeping the mind clear is more work than the actual work involved in your business. Just do it, no butts. Get rid of speed bumps and obstacles, most of the time these are self imposed.
Ever go to bed and feel guilty about things you did not accomplish? I have, but all we really want is the feeling of knowing we did what we set out to do. The results eventually come. Make a list of anything you didnt get to and do it. It will feel good. You will prove to yourself that you do what it takes, keeping a high level of integrity will boost confidence. More confidence means we can make things happen with ease.
