The No. 1 Thing You Can Do

Monday, July 28th, 2008

The whole thing is wrapped around 1 idea or concept. Do you have an idea of what that is? This one aspect of how we view ourselves is the #1 reasonwhy people succeed, fail, or putter along. Are you afraid of your own success. People who are not afraid define a direction for themselves and get after it.This helps one overcome adversity and hit the goal. Being comfortable with success or even our own potential requires that we get to a destination in life. Having a vision & moving towards it with confidence.I am no guru or expert but I really think that people who float along through the ocean of life do so because ultimately they are afraid of their true potential. You may have heard the expression “you are where you are in life based on your mindset” totally true. You can’t out perform your self image. And as you know on any journey knowledge is attained, but what stops people from choosing where they want to be ultimately comes down to being afraid of our own potential. How can we move forward if we are afraid of the destination? The clearer we get on defining what we want will determine the actions we needto take. This goes hand in hand with why 2 people doing the same thin in the see profession are having completely different results. Why is this??One of them is ok with success, the degree to which we struggle is proportionate to how clear and comfortable we are with our highest potential.Cheers,Eric

Are You A Moralizer???

I am no psychologist, but I know my own excuses when I see them. I can also spot errors in my own thinking. I am self aware…I recognize.

Anyhow. I like nightclubs and techno music. When I was younger I wanted to be a club DJ, but would find myself thinking that it is wrong to entertain this type of crowd where people do drugs and cause some harm to themselves. Would it be OK for me to provide the soundtrack for this type of behavior? I started to think it wouldn’t be alright for me to go down that path. Well what about people and their own choices. What about the 1-5% of the crowd that really gets it that is there for the music, drinks moderately and is more concerned with their own good time than gossiping, and flaunting their D&G t-shirts(D&G Who) and bottle service. Shouldn’t we focus more on the people who get it?

I mean that’s cool and all but there was more of a vibe in nightlife without “VIP” scene you can buy your way into by ordering a $400 bottle of Grey Goose. Dont get me wrong I will happily partake, but I am getting off track.

Have you ever considered that people need to be responsible for themselves and that in this case, DJ’s promoters, and club owners aren’t responsible for their patrons behavior and if someone does harm themselves who’s fault is it? Themselves right. Same in nightlife same in business-online.

A number of years a go a former boss went to start his own restaurant and flopped. After 6 months and $400,000 later. His friends cautioned him to find a fixer upper. Not to play too big in your first venture. He didn’t want to listen. Perfect example of the E-Myth in real life. But who did this guy have to blame? No one. He did this all himself. No company to bash on the internet. No company to call a scam nothing…

Why do people play the blame game. Why do people create some type of bullshit moral debate about starting a business. Why do people bring God into it??

Have some people ever considered that God is sick of hearing their shit. He has given them all the smarts to determine if something is good for them and they need to “pray on it.”

Procrasterbation….cracks me up….
